feel good me time

Dear earthlings,

Daily chores can really take a toll on my well being and emotion...A whole week of work and house chores can really diminish me energy level...When I'm tired, I tend to be more cranky than usual and this is a definite indicator that I need some time-out...some me-time...

And yesterday, was perfect timing...I've booked a spa session at Skincode for ages, and I'm glad the day finally came...The timing was made even more perfect because I just worked out 3 days ago and I was sore all over since I haven't worked out for quite some time and I am in need of a massage...

It hurt a tad when the masseuse was massaging my legs and it was a good thing that i was lying face down...I'm sure she'd freak out if she saw my agonized facial expression...However, after the hour was up, I felt really refreshed and to tell you the truth, the soreness seems to be well on its way to La-la land for all I care...Yippeee...I am one happy customer...

This session was a promo session, as a follow up from the Groupon coupon that I used the first time I came for my massage...I paid RM70.00 for two sessions of 1-hour massages..Totally worth every cent!

Now I'm all set for Monday! =)

solace...

Dear earthlings...

As a flawed human being, there are times in life when everything seems to go right for me, and then I start to get too comfortable...and then, without realizing it, I haven't been praying to Him as hard as I prayed when I am in trouble or when I wanted something...Don't get me wrong, I still pray of course but the focus is just...well...let's just say, there's room for improvement to put it nicely...I am ashamed of this behavior...I know I should be more consistent...

Whenever my heart is in a dark place...or when I'm feeling extra gloomy or when I feel so angry and sad, there's only one remedy that I know of...it's to return back to Him...

Therefore, today I decided I wanted to go to His house, the mosque...because I know the mosque offers solace like no other...whenever I'm in a mosque, it just feels right..the feeling of serenity and tranquility wrap themselves around my heart, making me forget the cruel reality of the outside world...

I rushed to the mosque for the Maghrib prayers and while driving,  I was praying very very hard that I could get a parking in time to catch the congregational prayer with the Imam..."Please...please Ya Allah, let me make it in time..Please...please Ya Allah, let me get a parking quickly so that I can make it to the prayers in time"

Alhamdulillah, I was just in the nick of time for the congregational prayers...and, as expected, the mosque did offer a feeling of calmness...a place where I can feel Allah's love...where nothing else mattered..just me and my Creator...

Thank you Ya Allah, for not leaving me, for not abandoning me...even though as your slave, I sometimes forget...I sometimes take your gifts for granted...I am truly blessed...

home made dinner for two

Dear earthlings,

I'm trying my best to write everyday...therefore please forgive me if the things i write about bore you to death...

Anyhoos, I decided to make tom yam for the hubs last night...mind you, it's been a while since i've cooked a proper meal..Nowadays, cooking usually refers to : me marinating the chicken and shoving it into the oven..tsk tsk..My hubs and I were not too keen on having dinner lately, hence the lack of cooking on my part...but yesterday, I said..plish plish pweety plish...let me cook some rice for you...and of course being the great hubs that he is, he relented and agreed to have me cook rice for him..yeay!!

I even parked illegally and ran across the road to AEON food section as fast as possible just to get my hands on some bunga kantan...you see, when I put my mind to something, there's no stopping me...

Let's see the end result shall we?

omellette with a dash of parsley...
the star dish: hubs said "sama taraf dengan kedai makan thai" - yup, that is his unoqie way of complementing me

the hubs was forced to have some rice...but, guess what? he still asked for  seconds unfortunately for him, I  did not cook too much rice based on his preference of not having it...

Well there we go, just remembering the yummy taste of tomyam is making my saliva drool...erkkk...not a pretty picture at all! Looks like I'm gonna reheat the tomyummy for dinner tonight...(because I really suck at cooking for two..I cook like, for a family of eight..hehee)

lucky...? coincidence....? chance....?

Dear earthlings,

I'm an avid believer that if you work your a** off to do something along with prayers to the Almighty of course, then God will surely lend a hand to make the task easier...

And my belief has been proven time and time again.

Scenario 1
I have been vehemently emailing a certain individual for quite some time to ask whether it is possible for me to become a PhD student under his supervision. I think I emailed everyday. And I waited and waited and waited and waited...well you get the idea, right? He didn't reply my email.. Not even once..I was left feeling dejected..So, one early morning, I decided to wake up and pray extremely hard to God so that the person I emailed would at least acknowledge my emails by replying...
And guess what? The next day, I got his reply! Can you just imagine how ecstatic I was when I heard the email notification on my phone and saw that it was the email I have been waiting  for..Alhamdulillah...

Scenario 2
Even though he replied my email, there seems to be no further actions...Being a person who likes to settle things as soon as possible, I was worried...So I decided to see some people upstairs regarding this tiny hitch..At first I decided to see the person upstairs on Wednesday morning since I had lab sessions to take care of one Tuesday evening, however, at the last minute, I decided just to go home late and see the person upstairs after my lab session...I mean, this is my future after all...and I can't rest well until I find my supervisor...After waiting for one hour, finally my friend and I got to see the person upstairs...Little did we know that as we went in to see the person up-stairs, the representatives from the university that I intend to go to was just coming out of the person up-stair's room...When I mentioned my problem to the person upstairs, he went out to call the representative and what do you know? We are now working closely to get the best possible supervisor for my future PhD and they are working very hard to securing me an unconditional offer from the university...When I said to the person upstairs, it was by chance that I came to see him on the same day and at the same time that the university's representative came to see him, he  said that luck comes to those who work hard..Alhamdulillah again...

Scenario 3
It has been 2 semesters since I last became a facilitator for a Finishing School program...so, being me, I like to go prepared..I did my homework, I went through the materials, I collected necessary videos and powerpoint presentations...
I also decided to try something new. Since the program was held on a Saturday and we all know that The Star has a myriad of job advertisements on a Saturday copy, I bought 6 copies of The Star so that the students can work in groups to identify the job that they want to have once they graduated..To my delight, when I opened the copy of the mystarjob, it had all the elements that I have prepared beforehand, there's articles on internship, on the importance of personal branding and a whole load of things that I wanted to talk about...What are the odds, right? Oh, did I mention that the program was supposed to be held 2 weeks earlier but du to some unforeseen circumstances, we postponed it to last Saturday...Alhamdulillah...

So my dear future self, if you are ever in doubt, turn to Him..He will never let you down..

hai peng, kemaman...

Dear earthlings,

There's this coffee place in Kemaman that is rather famous. It's called Hai Peng..So of course, being the curious adventurer that me and hubster are, we just had to see and taste for ourselves, whether the hype is worth it or not...

After we had breakfast at the hotel, please don't judge us! hey, it's included in the bill, xmakan nanti rugi..we went to have our second breakfast at Hai Peng..it isn't that hard to find..it's located on Jalan Sulaimani..You can see from quite a distant, the distinct white building and the letters Hai Peng from afar..sheesshhh..were we excited!

aaaaaannnd...as expected, there's a visible crowd hanging around having their own breakfast too...luckily we didn't have to wait long to find a seat..

The interior had an old cozy feeling to it...They even have antique tricycle, iron, phone attached to their wall..isn't that just cool?

Let's check out what the place shall we?

Day 1

roti bakar...oh..i'm drooling...

of course Fabregas had to have a taste as well...

this is it!

other food selection such as nasi lemak, fried mee, nasi dagang and a handful of local delicacies..

Day 2 (it was THAT good, we just had to come again)

crunchy and soft at the same time...

mini nasi lemak for the hubster...

for a coffee lover, I soo approve of this!

just divine! Lime twist or sumthing...forgot the name, but the taste,  one in a million!

Apparently, Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan and Best In The World beat us to finding this place :) You should give it a try...nothing to lose...

just the two of us...

Dear earthlings,

Last week, during our trip to Penang, the hubs suggested a short jalan-jalan-cari-makan trip to the East coast...After some hesitation (langsung xde kot, teros agree), we booked the Impiana Resort Cherating..There was competition between Legend and Impiana at first, however, the four-poster bed plus spacious living room seal the deal for Impiana...
It took 5 hours from Kelana Jaya to Cherating (oh-eym-gee!!), that's like 2 hours just for the jam from Kelana Jaya to Gombak...sheeesshhh...I wish we had magic wands that could make the jam disappear..
I'm gonna review the accommodation first...the food review will follow...mana boleh kami je yang makan sodap2...harusslah share dengan masyarakat...demi kebaikan sejagat..ok, enuf of digressing...

I love the room! It's spacious (even more so since it's just the two of us), it's clean, it has a comfortable living room with a two-seater sofa, a flat screen tv (which has HBO and FOX sports channel, very important!), the bathroom is quite large....and...the bed! oh the awesome bed...very comfortable...pillows, sgt empok,,we could just drown in it...Oh, did I mention, that every room, memang mengadap laut...very soothing and calming...

Jom, enjoy the photos...

Chilli's it is...

Dear earthlings,

There's four of us in our so-called geng at the office..There's Cik Ai, Cik Ee, Puan El and me..There's this tradition among us, siapa yang dah dapat duit KWSP (stop potong EPF, choose pencen), has to treat the whole geng to something gastrolicious...and that's just what Cik Ee did...after postponing twice of course due to her busy-body-ness...In the end, we went to Empire Shopping Gallery, which was quite close to our workplace, and Cik Ee dengan gumbiranya (i doubt that) belanje all of us...

Let the photos do the talking...Thanks Cik Ee..Lepas ni, turn Puan El pulak...

tak ingat the name of this chicken dish but it was delicious :)

Nachos (beef) - ideas to try at home

Grilled chicken with portobello mushroom...again, can't remember the fancy name

Dish consists of loads of mushroom, chicken and cheeeeeeseee

Trio Fajitas - Beef, Chicken and Shrimp but a tad dry since there was no sauce
That's all for now. Till later.
